On this route you see multiple picknick places and restaurants where you can pause and eat something. If you like you can bring a visit to Fort Rhijnouwen.

The sailing routes through the city center of Utrecht.

Here too there are several nice sailing routes for you, with many possibilities, it will amaze you. The wharf cellars along the way are very nice to see when you sail past them, with the Dom in the background, which makes this route very beautiful to see.

The route through the city is a circle, you start at the Rijnstroom and we have mapped out 3 routes for you. Namely a red route for all vessels, a green route for only canoes and sups and the blue route. Also only for canoes and sups.
You will receive a navigation map from us, it states exactly where you can disembark, it is not possible to moor everywhere.
If you want to sail all routes in the city (red-green and blue) then it is 17.8 km and 4 hours without a break.
Get something tasty on the way, on the Donkere Gaard, Coffee House & Dinnerbar Thym is located, there you can take your food from the jetty, in the canoe or boat.

The red route

It is navigable for: canoes, Canadians, sups, rowing boats and whisper boats.
Departure from: The Rijnstroom.
End point: The Rijnstroom.
Sailing time: 2.5 hours without a break. (canoes, Canadians, sups, rowboats)
Sailing time: 2 hours without a break. (whisper boat)
Distance: 10 km.
Mooring options: Oosterkade, Catharijnesingel, Bermuurde Weerd Oostzijde, and Lepelenburg.

Distance: 8.9 km.
Mooring options: Oosterkade, Bermuurde Weerd Oostzijde, and Griftpark.
Important: With this route, you have to take into account that you sail under very low bridges, where you have to lie flat, in the canoe, or on the sup.

Day trip’s

Take a day trip on the beautiful river Kromme Rijn and enjoy the various castles and estates that you come across. For example the Amelisweerd, Ridderhofstad Rhijnauwen and Beverweerd. You will be taken upstream by van and then canoe back with the current. A nice addition is to go to the boarding point by scooter. Naturally, the Rijnstroom has route maps to the various boarding points. Would you like to interrupt or end the day with your company? De Rijnstroom organizes a picnic from 2 or a barbecue from 15 people.

Day trip Bunnik, Odijk, Werkhoven and Wijk bij Duurstede.

To make the canoe trip as pleasant as possible, there are a few things that are useful to know. The multi-day trips are active holidays where long distances are covered in a Canadian canoe. During the trip you will sail through many beautiful nature reserves interspersed with a local town or village. You come to places where not many people sail.
The duration of the tour can be shortened or extended in consultation.

Look for all information under the heading multi-day tours. Below is a brief summary of all the tours out there.

Multi-day tour 'Primus inter pares'

Departure from: The Rijnstroom
End point: The Rijnstroom
Sailing time: 2 days.
Distance: 55.8 km.
Price per person: 3 days € 80,- p.p. 4 days € 90,- p.p.

This very scenic trip is a great challenge for seasoned canoeists. But it is also doable for the novice canoeist. Try it yourself! On this multi-day trip you will spend the night at a B&B or campsite.

This is a very beautiful tour that starts at the Rhine River. From there follow the Kromme Rijn to the city to arrive on the other side of Utrecht at one of the most historic locks in Utrecht; the Vecht lock. When you arrive here, you go through the lock to continue sailing on De Vecht. This beautiful stretch of river runs from Utrecht to Muiden and has something for everyone. The first part you will sail through the city, but soon you will find yourself in the nature around Utrecht. Along the way you will visit various places such as Maarssen, Vleuten and Breukelen.

The journey continues through the locks to De Vecht. When you arrive at De Vecht, you sail back against the current. Arriving at Breukelen you sail through one of the self-operated locks. These lead to the entrance of Loosdrecht, from here it is only a short boat ride. On Loosdrecht you sail to the campsite of your choice.

On the third day you will sail back to Utrecht via De Vecht. Fortunately, this route goes with the flow so that you can complete it in a day. It is possible to make an overnight stay if you find the distance of the last day too long or if you just want to enjoy another day on the water.

The last part of the tour follows the route back to Utrecht. After having passed the Weerdsluis, the tour continues under the small bridges and over the narrow waters that bring you back to the Rijnstroom.

Multi-day tour 'The Krommerijn route'

The duckling route.
From Wijk bij Duurstede to the Rijnstroom, with a stopover in Cothen, at camping de Bossewaard, we take you to Wijk bij Duurstede. On day 1, you will paddle a round of Langbroekerwetering, this is from Wijk bij Duurstede towards Cothen, and then to Langbroek, and further towards Wijk bij Duurstede, and then to the Camping in Cothen, the advantage of this canoe route is that you most, has current.

Sailing time: 2 days.
Distance: 31 km.

The trial run.

From Wijk bij Duurstede to the Rijnstroom, with a stopover in Cothen, at camping de Bossewaard, we take you to Wijk bij Duurstede. On day 1, you paddle a round Langbroekerwetering, this is from Wijk bij Duurstede towards Cothen, and then to Langbroek, and further towards Wijk bij Duurstede, and then to the Camping in Cothen, on day 2, you paddle to camping de Strosteeg, on day 3 you will paddle back to the Rijnstroom from the campsite in Driebergen.
