The Kickbike gives a totally new dimension to the word 'stepping'! Except that it is a lot of fun to do, the scooters are comfortable and feather light, roll and brake fast and are therefore an ideal means of transportation to step through the city of Utrecht, or do you prefer the peace and quiet, then choose the nature reserve of Rhijnauwen. You will literally get everywhere. With the scooter to the door of the destination at your own pace. All sights are within scooter range.

Technology

The Kickbike is an excellent step to train your fitness. At your own level and in your own environment you step step step by step to the goal you want to achieve. Recreational stepping or possibly at competition level, it is all possible with the Kickbike. Below you will find all kinds of tips from experienced Kickbikers:

The outlet (kick)

Perhaps the most important thing to know first. Relaxed stepping and pushing off is the basis of stepping on the Kickbike (also called Kickbiking). Relaxed grip on the handlebars and above all do not push off too fast. This will prevent unnecessary muscle tension. Do finish your stroke and swing your leg backwards. Then swing the leg 'loosely' forward again with a relaxed, slightly bent knee. If you want to increase the speed, you should push off more frequently and make a faster rotation of your legs. This leads to a shorter stroke.

Alternating leg

While Kickbiking, you have to change legs frequently. This is because the leg you are standing on sours. You feel this automatically and it is best to change legs after about 8 to 12 kicks. At first you will have to get used to it because the board is quite narrow, but after a few kicks, and a little more often for some, the change goes more smoothly. Start by shifting the weight on your standing leg to your heel by moving your toes slightly off the board to the outside. Place your other foot with the toes on the cleared space. Lift your stance leg off the plank and now slide your other foot all the way onto the plank.

As soon as you switch again repeat this.

Up-, no- or downhill

Hills, in the Netherlands? Well not really. But you sometimes come across a viaduct or a bridge and then it is still useful that you know how to 'climb' and 'descend' more about this on the videos of www.kickbike.comBelangrijkste uphill-featuring, perhaps, that you have to dismount much faster and can already change after 5 times. Downhill it is important not to underestimate your speed, because it can go very fast (also in the Netherlands), for example in Limburg, the Posbank, the Veluwe, several dunes and other places you can reach the 60 km/h limit downhill. So watch out and do not squat on your Kickbike, but keep both legs stretched and stand with 2 feet on the board! Always brake gently and don't forget....security is about kick. Anyway, let's stay realistic, of course the Netherlands is mostly flat and there is often wind, so take advantage of it. If you ride before the wind, make your stroke excessively long. If you have the wind against you, turn off and change a little more often.

Touring or even competition?

The vast majority of Kickbike users are tour riders. They enjoy pushing their own limits or going out into nature, alone or with a group. However, there are also Kickbikers who compete in events and races. If you are interested in that please check out the sports page. The basic idea of the creators of Kickbike (these are, by the way, athletes from Finland) is that Kickbiking is an all-round sporting activity and is feasible for a broad public. That it is accessible to many is evidenced by the companies that rent Kickbikes to groups. More about this on the rental page.
